As a child I had a very special relationship with Edith and also with Gene. As a little girl invited to dine with the Gallo's, I especially loved Edith's meatloaf - with hard boiled eggs cooked inside. It was magnificent! Later, as a teen, Edith made one of my gowns for a prom. I would often visit her both at her shop and at home. Edith and her sister, my Aunt Evelyn, were such major influences in my early life. It is the end of an era - and such a sad time for all of us as we lose the people who were part of the village that made us what we are today. She lives on in my heart.
