Milan Keith Borden
Funeral services for Mr. Milan Keith Borden, 73, of Monroe, La. will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Joe Solomon and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, LA.
Mr. Borden was born on November 6, 1938 in Epps, LA to Floyd M. Borden and Jenna Lou Heard Borden. He graduated from Farmerville High School in 1957. In 1958, he married his wife of 53 years, Jo Ann Brooks Borden. Milan entered into eternal rest on December 19, 2011, surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Borden graduated from Northeast Louisiana State College in 1962. Upon graduation, he was a teacher and coach for the Ouachita Parish School System for several years. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local # 659, and later helped build the General Motors Plant in Monroe. Milan was asked to stay as Maintenance Supervisor, a position he held for over 20 years, until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Borden coached numerous Dixie Major teams for the Monroe Recreation Department and his grandson’s Little League team in Swartz. Mr. Borden was a member of the Walker-George Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites # 465, and the Barak Shrine. Milan was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include Mr. Borden’s wife, Mrs. Jo Ann B. Borden; his three daughters, Marti Berry and husband, Roger, Mandi Rudolph and husband, George, and Misti Cunningham and husband, Russ; brothers, Floyd Allen Borden and wife, Sandra, and John T. Borden and wife, Betsy; sister, Phyllis Bricker and husband, Mike; 6 Grandchildren, Morgan Anthony, Hayden Anthony, Zachary Buster, Trevor Buster, Cameron Cunningham, and Connor Keith Cunningham; Step Grandchildren, Jeremy Berry, Jared Berry, Jessica Jowers, Nicole Rudolph, and Shantell Rudolph; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr Borden’s family would like to give thanks to their dear family friend, Carmen Downing, Dr. Tom Causey and staff, Dr. Ron Hammett, and Hospice Family Alliance with a special thank you to Rene Jackson, RN, Dolores Tilley, LPN, and Kristi Kirkham, LPN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jenna Lou Borden.
Pallbearers will be Hayden Anthony, Roger Berry, Zachary Buster, Russ Cunningham, George Rudolph, and J. D. Smith.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 21, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church Sanctuary Fund in Monroe, LA or to the Ouachita Christian School Turf Football Field Fund in Monroe, LA.
